Arena takes grip of TV racing rights
Media group Arena Leisure Plc said its Go Racing consortium has made deals with enough UK racecourses to continue with its plans to control TV rights for racing in Britain.
Go Racing, the broadcasting company which Arena owns a third of, has had positive feedback for its £400m broadcast deal from courses representing
more than 70% of off-course betting turnover.
Arena's shares were suspended at 95p a week ago
pending the Go Racing deal.
The consortium includes satellite TV group BSkyB, Channel Four, and UK-based cable group NTL.
Newspapers added that on Tuesday Arena were due to announce details of fundraising of up to £80m
to help pay for its share of the deal.
