Deferr vaults to gold
Gervasio Deferr won Spain their second gymnastics gold of the Athens Games with victory in the men's vault final.
Russia's Alexei Bondarenko was carried out of the gymnastics arena on a stretcher after injuring his back completing his first vault.
Deferr recorded a vault of 9.737 points to push Latvia's Evgeni Sapronenko, who scored 9.706, to second place.
Ex-world champion Marian Dragulescu of Romania took the final podium place with a vault of 9.612 to claim bronze.
Organisers said Bondarenko, the silver medallist on the vault from Sydney four years ago, had suffered an injury of the lumbar spine.
He was taken to hospital for further tests.
