Guyart takes foil gold
France's Brice Guyart edged out Italian Salvatore Sanzo to claim gold in the men's fencing individual foil.
Guyart, who pipped world number one Andrea Cassara in the semi-final, took a bad-tempered title clash 15-13.
The Frenchman was warned first for shoulder-barging and then for "rucking" when his opponent fell to the floor. Sanzo was also warned for foul play.
Cassara, conqueror of Britain's Richard Kruse, went on to take the bronze medal with a 15-12 win over Ganeev.
"I can't believe what I have accomplished here. I had to
work very hard in two matches to win the final," said Guyart, who was part of the French team that triumphed in Sydney four years ago.
"I had to work four years to improve my technical ability
and my physical strength."
