US women start strongly
The USA overcame a slow start to crush New Zealand 99-47 as the women's Olympic basketball got underway.
Swin Cash scored 19 points and four other players registered double-figure scores as the tournament favourites opened in style.
Lauren Jackson scored 27 points as Australia battled past Nigeria 85-73.
China beat Asian rivals South Korea 71-54 while Brazil thrashed Japan 128-62, and hosts Greece were edged 69-62 in a hard-fought match with Russia.
Spain defeated the Czech Republic 80-78 after a late comback.
