Russia win rhythmic gold
Russia retained their Olympic title in the gymnastics group all-round rhythmic competition with a superb display.
The team of Olga Glayskikh, Tatiana Kubakova, Natalia Lavrova, Elena Murzina and Elena Posevina scored a total of 51.100 points from two rounds.
That was easily enough to see them outclass their nearest rivals.
Crowd favourites Italy scored 49.450 points to secure the silver medal while Bulgaria edged out Belarus to take the bronze with 48.600 points.
Eight teams of five women each vied for the championship.
Each had two turns on the mat - one with five ribbons, the
other with three hoops and two balls.
