Coughlin takes back world record
Olympic champion Natalie Coughlin reclaimed her 100m backstroke world record in the preliminary heats of the United States Olympic swimming trials.
The 25-year-old clocked 59.03 seconds to reclaim the record after Hayley McGregory, 22, had lowered it to 59.15 sec in the previous heat in Nebraska.
"It gave me motivation to go a little faster than I was planning, said 2004 Olympic champion Coughlin.
Coughlin had set the old world record of 59.21 sec on 17 February this year.
