Corners key for Britain's Mantell

Richard Mantell says short corners are "key" to the Great Britain men's hockey team's chances at the Beijing Olympics.

Bridgwater-raised full-back, Mantell, 26, will line-up in China alongside his younger brother, Simon.

"If you look at any successful team, they score their corners, so I've been training hard to make sure they're right," Mantell told BBC Points West.

"To be competing alongside top athletes coming from all over the world is a fantastic opportunity."

Great Britain have been drawn in a difficult group with Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Pakistan and South Africa and Reading star Mantell says it is important to start with a win.

"Pakistan are the team ranked just above us in the pool but we beat them in the [2006] World Cup.

"We are looking to progressing from our pool and hopefully finishing in the top two, in order to qualify for the semi-final and from there anything can happen," he added.
