British archer Alan Wills criticised his preparation by national head coach Peter Suk after his defeat in the last 16 of the men's individual event.
Wills, who lost 108-104 to Cuba's Juan Carlos Stevens, was Britain's last hope of an archery medal in Beijing.
"The way our coach works, he is trying to subdue you sometimes," Wills said.
"I feel like my personality is being squashed down and hidden away. I need to get a bit aggressive and get pumped up. When I do that, I can shoot 10s."
Later, in his BBC Sport blog, Wills said he had spoken in the heat of the moment and played down some of his earlier comments.
"I was cheesed off with my performance and then went straight into interviews," he said.
"Sometimes you say stuff in the heat of the moment which you otherwise wouldn't."
Wills, who beat defending champion Marco Galiazzo in his previous match, led Stevens 79-78 after nine of their 12 rounds.

But the 27-year-old who is from Peterlee, County Durham, but now lives in Cumbria, faltered in the final end, while Stevens managed perfect scores with his last three arrows to book his quarter-final place.
Wills, who won four major championship medals in 2007 including a bronze medal at the World Cup, was part of a highly-fancied British squad that had been set a target of two medals.
But the best result they managed was fourth place in the women's team event.
"I've got loads and loads of individual medals and you learn from your own mistakes," added Wills on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"Maybe if I had gone in there with a bit more aggression there might have been a different outcome.
"Clearly we haven't achieved our medal target but, if you look at the level of competition and also just how close the matches have been, we have had some very good performances"
"But I think I thought 'this is just another step' rather than going in thinking 'this is it, winning this one match is all I need to do'."
Hilda Gibson, Britain's archery team leader, defended the squad's performance but said Wills' complaints would be addressed.
Gibson said: "Any concerns the archers have and take away from these Games we will be reviewing and discussing and looking how we can address those concerns so we are fully prepared for 2012.
"Clearly we haven't achieved our medal target but, if you look at the level of competition and also just how close the matches have been, we have had some very good performances from our archers."
