Olympics day 12 preview

OLYMPICS DAY 12: Watch live from 0200 BST WEDNESDAY on the BBC Sport website (UK users only). Further coverage on BBC One and red button.

Usain Bolt

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt will again take centre stage in the Bird's Nest on Wednesday as he looks to secure a sprint double in the final of the 200m.

Bolt already has the Olympic 100m title after storming to victory in a world record time and has looked relaxed en route to Wednesday's final at 1520 BST.

Britain's sailors could record more glory with the medal races in the men's and women's RS:X class from 0600 BST.

GB duo Nick Dempsey and Bryony Shaw are also both contenders in windsurfing.

Dempsey claimed windsurfing bronze four years ago and came third at last year's sailing world championships.

Shaw is considered a strong medal contender after winning the test event in Qingdao last year.

At the Bird's Nest, Bolt is the hot favourite for 200m gold with Michael Johnson's world record of 19.32 seconds also expected to come under threat.

But Bolt will face a stiff test from defending champion Shawn Crawford who will be determined not to lose his Olympic title.

Other finals in the Bird's Nest on Wednesday include the women's hammer at 1220 BST and the women's 400 hurdles final.

British athlete Mo Farah starts his Olympic campaign in the men's 5000m as does Michael Rimmer in the men's 800m from 1200 BST.

At the Worker's Gymnasium, British middleweight James DeGale will be hoping to follow David Price's lead and qualify for a boxing semi-final.

But DeGale faces a stern test from Kazakhstan's Bakhtiyar Artayev in the quarter-final at 1346 BST.

British swimming pair Cassie Patten and Keri-Anne Payne go in the inaugural 10k open-water swim from 0200 BST while synchro pair Olivia Allison and Jenna Randall are in action at 0800 BST.

Shanaze Reade, 19, and Liam Phillips gets their BMX campaigns under way in the men's and women's qualifying from 0200 BST.

World champion Reade is expected to challenge for gold and begins racing at 0330 BST.
