Cooke to make double Olympic bid

Nicole Cooke

Cycling hero Nicole Cooke will bid for double Olympic glory as the road race champion will line-up in the women's time trials on Wednesday.

The double World Cup winner secured Britain's first gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games on Sunday.

Now Team GB cycling chiefs have confirmed 25-year-old Cooke will turn her attentions to the shorter 31.2k time trial event.

"It seems like I'm in good form so I'll do my best," Cooke told BBC Sport.

Cooke finished 19th in the time Trial at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

"The time trial is on the same course as the road race," said Cooke.

"So my training for the road race should serve me well.

"It's another opportunity for a gold so I'll give it a go."
