Top row - Jake Sheaf, Meg Viggers, Sheree Cox, Matt Rossiter, Josh Butler; bottom row - Adam Smith, Paige Nelms, Hannah Stewart, Katie Long, Sarah Page, James Milton A group of 120 young British athletes are taking part in the Australian Youth Olympic Festival this week and many of them could be household names at London 2012.

After hockey and the opening ceremony on Wednesday, the main action takes place between Thursday and Sunday in Sydney.

Beijing Olympic medallists Louis Smith and rower Tom Lucy took part in the last AYOF in 2007, as did the likes of diver Tom Daley and Aaron Cook from taekwondo.

This time around, many of the young athletes are writing blogs on the British Olympic Association website.
