UK Athletics hand Weir 2012 role
Double Commonwealth gold medallist and former British discus and hammer record holder Robert Weir has been appointed as heavy throws coach for UK Athletics.
Weir, who competed at three Olympic Games, joins from Stanford University where he headed up the men's track and field programme for a number of years.
"GB had two heavy throwers in Beijing and neither made the final," he said: "This must change at London 2012."
"I am delighted to have Bob here," said UKA head coach Charles van Commenee.
"His coaching experience will enable us to fast-track our young heavy throwers on the path to 2012."
