Errigal Ciaran edged out Carrickmore 1-8 to 0-8 in Sunday's WJ Dolan Tyrone SFC final replay at Omagh.
Damien McDermott hit the goal after great work by Peter Canavan although there was a suspicion of a square ball.
The score was 1-5 to 0-5 at half-time and while Carrickmore cut the lead to a point, a great John Devine save to deny Michael Gallagher kept Errigal ahead.
Errigal Ciaran went three ahead again and Carrickmore had Gabriel McCallan sent off in the closing stages.
Impressive centre half-back Paul Quinn hit the opening score of the match for Errigal Ciaran but points from late replacement Finbar Magill and Kieran McAleer then edged the holders ahead.
Canavan then had a goal attempted saved by Plunkett McCallan but Caolan Tierney levelled for Errigal with a neat score.
The sides were level at 0-3 apiece when Errigal scored the crucial goal with McDermott fisting to the net after being set up by Canavan although there were Carrickmore complaints that the score should have been disallowed for square ball.
Two Canavan frees extended the Ballygawley club's lead to 1-5 to 0-3 but Carrickmore responded with points from Kevin McNally and Mark Donnelly before the break.
Much to the large crowd's surprise, Canavan did not reappear for the second half with Mark Harte coming on as a replacement.
After the match, Canavan revealed that he had been troubled by a rib injury in the run-up to Sunday's game.
Carrickmore quickly reduced the deficit to the minimum thanks to Kevin McNally and Seamus McCallan scores but Damien McDermott's excellent point seemed to steady Errigal Ciaran.
Influential substitute John Kelly put a goal between the sides again although that goal very nearly came with John Devine making a fine save to deny Michael Gallagher although the Carrickmore player should probably have given the Tyrone keeper no chance.
Ronan McNally's point left two between the sides again only for Brian Mallon to edge Errigal three clear again.
Canavan was reintroduced with three minutes of normal time and he was to make a crucial defensive intervention in injury-time when he cleared Brian Gormley's goal attempt to safety.
Late in injury-time, Carrickmore's Gabriel McCallan received his marching orders.
