Take-off in Talladega

1 of 7
Talladega, Alabama, hosts the latest race in the US-based Nascar series on Sunday. Juan Pablo Montoya is in pole for the Aaron's 499

2 of 7
The race involves a number of bad crashes. There is a 13-car pile-up on lap seven and 10 cars crash towards the end of the race

3 of 7
Worse is to come. On the final lap, Brad Keselowski (right) hooks onto the rear bumper of Carl Edwards to push him past two other drivers

4 of 7
Edwards tries to block the move, but Keselowski is too close to his bumper and the contact sends Edwards spinning up the track

5 of 7
The car of Edwards shoots into the air over Ryan Newman’s hood and heads dangerously into the safety fence on the front stretch

6 of 7
The safety fence bows but holds. A tragedy is avoided but seven fans are injured - not seriously - by debris. Keselowski wins the race

7 of 7
Edwards climbs out and dashes for the line. He wants new race regulations saying: "I'm glad the car didn't go in the grandstands. We'll race like this until we kill somebody, then Nascar will change it."
