Redcar set for feast of speedway

Speedway

Redcar's track will be a hive of activity this week with three meetings being held in four days.

Thursday sees the Bears take on Edinburgh Monarchs in their opening Premier League match of the season.

The weekend brings a double helping of speedway with both the Bears and the Cubs in action.

Sheffield Tigers arrive on Teesside for their Premier Trophy meeting, while Buxton Hitmen are the opponents for the Cubs in the Conference League.

The Monarchs arrive on Thursday evening with an exciting new spearhead.

Thomas H. Jonasson is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in world speedway.

The 19-year-old Swede scored 10 points in the World Under-21 Final at Ostrow, Poland last season.

Few riders outside of Eastern Europe can boast of double-figure scores at any Polish staging of the final.

There will also be interest in the appearance of 20-year-old Australian Aaron Summers, who has signed for the Cubs and will be parked in the home pits on the Saturday evening.
