Kirkby-on Bain's Steve Plater followed up his win in the British Supersport Championships at Snetterton with second place in round six at Mallory Park.
The race was run in tricky conditions after heavy rain just before the start. Starting from sixth on the grid, Plater won an early tussle with Glen Richards before both were passed by the eventual race winner Hudson Kennaugh.
He said: "I am happy enough with second, I wasn't prepared to go quick and risk crashing in the conditions."
He also saw off a late challenge from Ian Lowry to claim his second podium in as many races for AIM Yamaha and climb to seventh in the standings.
"I thought someone was going to have a go at me in the closing stages but when I looked on the last lap I couldn't believe there was no one there," he admitted.
"I think perhaps I was a bit more aggressive going through the back markers and therefore pulled a gap."
Meanwhile Ruskington's Rob Frost added to his points tally with 11th place on the Buff Racing Triumph.
In Superbikes, Cal Crutchlow of the Louth-based HM Plant Honda team claimed a brace of third positions with team-mate Leon Haslam finishing second in race one and sixth in race two.
Shane Byrne extended his championship lead with a win and a second place, with the other race victory going to Michael Rutter on his home circuit, his first BSB win for three years.
