Kirkby-on-Bain's Steve Plater claimed his first British Supersport win since 1999 with victory at Snetterton.
Having made a temporary switch from the British Superbike Championship, Plater took the win when an accident caused the race to be halted after 13 laps.
But he admitted that the threat of rain had been a greater concern.
He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "We were panicking, as the race drew on the clouds got nearer so I knew I had to be at the front as soon as possible."
"They wanted me to ride in supersport all season. But I wanted to ride the superbike until the Isle of Man TT had finished"
Plater, whose last British short-circuit victory was in the Superbike race at Cadwell Park in 2003, had changed classes as his AIM Yamaha team did not have time to prepare their Superbikes after returning from the Isle of Man TT.
But the two-time British Supersport Championship runner-up did not rule out an extended stay in the class.
"They wanted me to ride in supersport all season," Plater said. "But I wanted to ride the superbike until the Isle of Man TT had finished to keep myself sharp on the bigger machine.
"The decision lies in the hands of [team manager] Alistair Flanagan but I'll do whatever he asks."
Meanwhile, Ruskington's Rob Frost claimed another top-10 finish in the class, coming home ninth on the Buff Racing Triumph.
In Superbikes, Cal Crutchlow of Louth-based HM Plant Honda finished fourth and third while his team-mate Leon Haslam claimed a brace of fifth places.
Leon Camier and series leader Shane Byrne, riding for Airwaves Ducati, each took a win and a second place. Byrne now has an 83-point advantage in the standings with Camier moving into second, one point ahead of Crutchlow.
In Superstock, Peter Hickman from Alford came sixth in race one, one place ahead of Boston's Ben Wilson, with Lincoln's Lee Jackson ninth. Heavy rain led to the postponement of the second race.
