Mondello Park round is cancelled

Jonathan Rea The fifth round of the British Superbike Championship at Mondello Park has been cancelled because of persistent heavy rain at the circuit.

Organisers made the decision after the course became flooded. The series will now be run over 12 rounds.

The abandonment comes as a big disappointment for thousands of Irish fans who were enjoying their only chance to see the top stars in action.

The next round will take place at Mallory Park on Sunday, 4 June.
