Kamui Kobayashi

BBC COMMENTATOR MARTIN BRUNDLE'S VIEW

"Kamui Kobayashi was promoted for Toyota as a stand-in for the injured Timo Glock for the final two races of 2009.

KOBAYASHI STATS & FACTS

"Kamui Kobayashi was promoted for Toyota as a stand-in for the injured Timo Glock for the final two races of 2009.

"His performances were sensational in Brazil and, particularly, Abu Dhabi.

"Kobayashi showed a lot of commitment and bravery, even if he arguably should have been penalised at Interlagos for driving dangerously. He certainly wasn't intimidated when passing Button in Abu Dhabi.

"He has raised his game in the F1 spotlight but Toyota's exit has heavily dented his chances of a full time ride in 2010.

"Toro Rosso, or one of the new teams, would do well to engage his services and I'm sure that Bernie Ecclestone will be keen to keep a fast Japanese driver in F1 with the exit of Honda, Toyota and, for 2011, Bridgestone."
