BBC Sport's Formula One Circuit Guide is an interactive application designed to allow you to explore each F1 circuit in detail.
How to use the circuit guide
How to use the Circuit Guide
Start by selecting a circuit from the initial menu.
Some circuits will not be available until later in the season.
Once you have selected a circuit you will see its full circuit diagram.
Rolling over the red key-point pins (pictured right) will bring up further options. Here you can select to see images, video, and tour the track in the interactive fly through.
Circuit fly through
You can click the circuit diagram in the top left-hand corner to jump to specific points on the track.
The options on the right-hand side allow you to change what you see and hear around the track. If you are having problems with the driver audio cutting off before he has finished speaking, try slowing down the movie.
To change the camera angle, drag the small black box in the camera angle rectangle (pictured). Dragging the box, or clicking the arrows on either side of it, will adjust the view you see.
Driver's lap
Do not miss out on the driver's lap video, complete with full telemetry data.
You can access the driver's lap from the horizontal menu at the bottom of each page.
Recommended computer Requirements and the Flash player
The F1 Circuit Guide application requires the Flash player, version 9 or higher.
You can find out more about the Flash player, including how to to download it for free here .
The Circuit Guide fly through is a graphics-rich part of the application, and as a result may not perform as well on some computers as it will on faster systems.
Although this is intended only as a guide, our testing has suggested that for optimum performance, a minimum computer specification of the following is recommended:
Memory:
1GB of RAM
Processor:
1.5 GHz Pentium Processor (PC)
or Athlon 2200 (1.80 GHz)
or 1.6 GHz PowerPC G5 (Mac)
or higher.
Graphics card:
At least 256 MB Video memory
Flash Player:
Flash player
version 9 or higher.
Performance problems?
Although we have made every effort to make sure the F1 Circuit Guide works on as many computers as possible, its graphics-rich features can make it run slowly on certain computers.
If you encounter this problem, check that your computer meets the minimum requirements as set out in Computer Requirements and the Flash player above.
If your computer does meet these requirements and yet you are still experiencing performance problems, all or some of the following tips may help you:
1.
Try closing any other applications which may be slowing your computer down, especially any that might also be resource- and/or graphic-intensive.
2. Try turning the sound off by pressing the 'Sound off' button in the top left-hand corner of the Circuit Guide.
3. If you are noticing performance problems while using the circuit fly through, try turning the quality value from 'hi' to 'lo', and turning scenery from 'on' to 'off'.
Turning off additional features may also contribute to improving performance.
Due to the rights restrictions that surround our use of video on the internet, users outside the UK will not be able to view video clips within the circuit guide. We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause non UK users
It's also possible that UK users who's corporate networks direct their internet traffic via a country other than the UK will also not be able to view video within the circuit guides.
If you are in the UK and experience this problem, then we suggest that you speak to your local IT support team to find out if there is anything they can do to help you.
