David Coulthard is preparing for the Singapore Grand Prix satisfied that, with just four races to go in his Formula One career, he has no regrets.
Now 37, the Red Bull driver will be replaced next season by Toro Rosso junior team-mate Sebastian Vettel.
"I'll just take each of those races as they come. I've only finished in the points once this season, which is disappointing," said Coulthard.
The Scot will take up a consultancy role with Red Bull Racing next year.
The Singapore Grand Prix will be the first night-time race for the drivers.
Singapore has been experiencing heavy rainfall ahead of the race and Coulthard is concerned about visibility.
"I think the biggest thing really is if we have a downpour and knowing what it's going to be like in the spray with the light refracting through the water," said the veteran driver who registered 13 grand prix victories in his career.
"We don't know how much it's going to hang in the air, so that would be the most difficult thing.
"I don't think it will make a big difference whether we are under lights or sunlight as long as you can see where you are going.
"I'd like to contribute more points to the board than I have done so far this year""I actually think the night aspect is more a marketing thing rather than a race issue. I don't think you will have anyone say after the race they could have won if they could see better," added Coulthard.
The highlight of Coulthard's final racing year so far was third place in Montreal, behind Robert Kubeca and Nick Heidfeld, but he has failed to pick up points in any of the other races.
"I'd like to contribute more points to the board than I have done so far this year," said Coulthard.
Red Bull Racing, comprising Coulthard and Mark Webber, have been upstaged by the Toro Rosso team this season, highlighted by the win for Vettel at Monza earlier this month.
"Obviously we would like to be the Red Bull part of the team that's doing the winning, that's obviously the focus as a team," said Coulthard.
"They've managed to get there before us, but I don't think there's any embarrassment on our part.
"I think, four years in, you can say the first part of that dream is being realised, just with a different part of the Red Bull organisation than our team.
"We just have to take that on the chin and realise that there are areas that we've got to improve."
