Toro Rosso will continue in 2009

Toro Rosso will continue racing in 2009 despite owner Dietrich Mateschitz's plan to sell the Formula One team.

Mateschitz, who also owns the Red Bull team, has given assurances that the Toro Rosso budget and structure will remain in place next season.

"For 2009, everything will remain stable, not just in terms of employment but also in terms of the budget," said Toro Roso team principal Franz Tost.

"From 2010 we will see what happens. At the moment the team is stable."

Toro Rosso's performance has improved since introducing its new car at Monaco, with Sebastian Vettel finishing in the points in two of the last three races.

Technical director Giorgio Ascanelli said: "We are just one point short of our total for the whole of last year, so we must have done something right."
