Brawn quits in Ferrari reshuffle

Ross Brawn receives the constructor's trophy after Ferrrari's victory in Sao Paolo Ross Brawn and Paolo Martinelli are leaving Ferrari as the Italian stable continues to ring the changes following the retirement of Michael Schumacher.

Technical director Brawn was the tactical genius behind Ferrari's return to Formula One supremacy, while Martinelli was the engine supremo.

Ferrari issued a statement offering their "most heartfelt thanks" to the duo for "their immense contribution".

Their period with the Scuderia yielded 11 world titles and around 90 GP wins.

"After years of hard and demanding work, Ross Brawn has decided to turn his attention to his personal life, while Paolo Martinelli will take on an important role within the Fiat Group: to them go best wishes for a satisfying future," the statement concluded.

Another change sees executive director Jean Todt promoted to the role of chief executive officer.

Schumacher, meanwhile, who retired from Formula One after Sunday's Brazilian GP, has refused to rule out a return to racing at some point in the future.

"Why should I?" the 37-year-old German told www.autosport.com. "Niki Lauda went back to racing in F1, Mika Hakkinen races in DTM, but all this happened after time.

"I can't say what I will be doing in two or three years' time."
