Jenson Button has defended himself from criticism over his decision to remain with BAR rather than move to Williams.
Former team owner Eddie Jordan claimed the 25-year-old Briton could have damaged his reputation by pulling out of his contract with Williams.
But Button told BBC Five Live: "I know I've been criticised but I think Frank Williams and I have dealt with it well.
"To agree, we've all understood the situation and come out reasonably happy. There should be no criticism."
Button also admitted that if the contract dispute had gone to court, it would not have been a satisfactory situation for anyone.
It was the second dispute involving the three parties within a year - in 2004, Button said he wanted to quit BAR to join Williams for 2005 but was forced to honour his contract.
"It's never a nice situation when you have to talk to someone about wanting to be elsewhere but I had to do it," he said.
"The best bit was phoning the factory to tell them that I was staying. The cheer I heard from them was amazing."
Barrichello quits Ferrari for BAR
Button's decision to stay with BAR has delighted Rubens Barrichello, who will be teaming up with the Briton next season.
Barrichello, who has decided to quit Ferrari after six years, believes Button can help BAR turn into genuine world championship challengers.
"I am very happy because I think now the team has a true chance of becoming world champions," he said.
"I think that it is good we have two drivers capable of winning. I am delighted.
"I was really hoping he could stay with the team so now he is going to have some hard work in November and December, when I am off, and then he his taking January off and I will be working."
