Jordan give 2005 car first outing

Tiago Monteiro in action at Silverstone Jordan gave their new Toyota-powered car its track debut at Silverstone on Monday and declared it a success.

Portugal's Tiago Monteiro drove about 60 miles as the team prepared for their first full test later this week.

Apart from Jordan switching to Toyota engines, the car is fundamentally the same one that struggled last year.

New sporting director Trevor Carlin was pleased with the outing, and said: "We're looking forward to getting into the full test programme."

It was the first time Monteiro had taken to the track as a Formula One race driver and he was understandably excited by the experience.

"It was really cool and from my point of view it went great," he said.

"We started late because of fog in the morning so we didn't achieve everything we wanted to, but we did 35 laps in the afternoon and had no major issues at all.

"We carried out some of the tests we wanted to do and I feel comfortable in the car - so far so good.

"I'm really happy and looking forward to continuing the work this week."
