Priaulx considers move to America

Andy Priaulx

Guernsey's former World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx has said he will consider racing in the USA if BMW decide not to stay in the competition.

The 34-year-old is contracted to BMW for the next two seasons but the German manufacturers are considering whether to enter the WTCC next season.

Priaulx told BBC Guernsey: "If I don't drive in Touring Cars then I hope to do something exciting in America."

He is currently testing with the Bobby Rahal American Le Mans Series team.

The dominance of Seat's turbo-powered diesel cars in this year's championship have seen BMW become uncompetitive.

And Priaulx added: "It would be a big blow for World Touring Cars because BMW is a quality brand and has been extremely committed to this championship and probably helped to make it what it is.

"It's a very exiting time for me right now and I'm pleased that once again I was the best BMW driver, my relationship with them is very positive and that's good."
