Walker gets Superleague victory
Jersey racing driver James Walker won the final race of Superleague Formula season at Jerez in Spain on Sunday.
The island racer, driving the Borussia Dortmund car, won the second race of the day to end his season on a high.
The win was even more remarkable as Walker missed all of the practise and qualifying sessions while his car was being prepared.
He had to start the first race, where he finished 14th, from the pit lane after his steering column came loose.
"When you consider that this time yesterday we weren't racing at all, to come away with a win is incredible," Walker said.
"I am especially delighted as I have never even been to Jerez before.
"This win consolidates all the hard work we have done this year and it shows that my improved performance in the latter half of the World Series was the real deal," he added.
Walker's victory left his German team 14th in the final standings out of 18 teams.
