Carroll claims China sprint win
Adam Carroll secured victory for Ireland in the A1GP sprint race in China on Sunday.
The Portadown driver, who also came second in the feature race, beat off the challenge of Holland's Robert Doornbos to claim the win.
"It's brilliant - I managed to get into turn one first and tried to control it from there," said Carroll.
"I knew Robert was going to be pushing hard so I just kept my head down and tried not to make any mistakes."
He added: "The guys have worked so hard and were due the results and this year I think we are going to get what we deserve."
Carroll was pipped by Filipe Albuquerque of Portugal in the feature race with Great Britain's Danny Watts in third.
