Scotland's Allan McNish co-piloted the first diesel-powered car to win a major sports car race as Audi won the Sebring 12 Hours in Florida.
The victory was all the more extraordinary as McNish and his Audi co-drivers Tom Kristensen and Rinaldo Capello had to start from the pit lane.
"Our Audi R10 TDI is a real racing car," said four-time winner Kristensen.
"You can drive it very precisely, which is a combination of the diesel power and immense torque. It's fun to drive."
After securing pole position, the car of McNish his team-mates had to have its heat exchanger replaced before the start.
But they assumed the lead four hours into the 12-hour race when their sister car developed a similar problem and was forced to retire.
