Jenkins' cruel break
Nigel Davies will take over coaching duties at Llanelli
Llanelli coach Gareth Jenkins underwent a successful operation on Saturday night after fracturing his hip that morning.
Jenkins had gone for a ride on his mountain bike on Saturday morning before Llanelli opened their season with a 46-16 home win against Ebbw Vale.
However, Jenkins was taken to Morriston Hospital by ambulance after taking a tumble and had a metal pin inserted in his hip joint.
The Llanelli coach will spend the next week recovering in bed and will be off his feet for the following five to six weeks.
However, Jenkins expects to be able to resume duties at Stradey Park in a couple of weeks using a wheelchair.
Assistant coach Nigel Davies will take over the reins at Llanelli until Jenkins is fit to resume his duties.
