Australian Geoff Ogilvy maintained his lead after the second round of the Mercedes Championship in Hawaii.
The former US Open champion carded 68 to edge to 11 under, one shot clear of American DJ Trahan (66) and two ahead of South Africa's Ernie Els (69).
Six players were locked on seven under including US star Anthony Kim and veterans Kenny Perry and Davis Love.
Vijay Singh, winner of last year's Fed Ex Cup rankings, shot a second 73 top remain level par in Kapalua.
Ogilvy, the overnight leader, made five birdies on his front nine and one more at the 15th but dropped his only shot of the day on the 17th, and then three-putted the 18th.

"The wind changed sometime between the tee shot on the 17th and the second shot on the 17th, and we couldn't really feel it where we were standing," Ogilvy said.
"I'm pretty annoyed at the way I finished, but I'm happy with where I am and how I'm playing."
Trahan made a 40-foot eagle putt on the 15th to make up ground, while Els missed two putts inside three feet and dumped a pitch shot into the bunker for a bogey on the 14th.
"If I made some putts, I could have had a low one, and I knew today was the day to get a low one," Els said.
"I'm there, but I feel like I could be a lot better. But it's fine. It's the first week of the year, and I guess I've just got to be patient."
The 33-man tournament features the winners from the PGA Tour in 2008, though the likes of Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson and the injured Tiger Woods are missing.
