Jim Furyk

American Jim Furyk shot a one-under-par 71 to maintain the lead after the second round of the Chevron World Challenge in California.

Furyk edged to five under to head countryman Anthony Kim, South Korea's KJ Choi and Colombia's Camilo Villegas by two shots.

Fred Couples and Steve Stricker were three strokes back at two under.

England's Paul Casey was two over with Luke Donald at four over after a second-round 75.

Furyk was bogey-free until the last hole when he missed with a 10-foot par putt after finding the bunker with his approach.

"You don't want to bogey the last," Furyk said. "If you birdie 18 for 71 or you bogey 18 for 71, you should still feel the same way. It's a 71. But you don't, you're disappointed."

Choi reached five under early in his round but made two bogeys and a double-bogey on the front nine before coming home in 33.

"This game - patience is really important," Choi said. "Par is very good today, but I made bogey-bogey on eight and nine."

Villegas had the low round of the day, shooting a 67 to go from two over to three under.

The event, which is hosted by Tiger Woods and benefits his foundation, features a 16-player field.
