McDowell opens with 71 in Munich
Graeme McDowell fired a one-under-par 71 in Thursday's first round of the BMW International Open in Munich.
The Portrush player, who is chasing a Ryder Cup place, had three birdies and two bogeys in his round.
Holywood's Rory McIlroy recovered from a poor start to post a 72 while Gary Murphy carded a 71, Peter Lawrie had a 73 and Damien McGrane shot a 74.
Australia's Peter O'Malley was among a group of four players sharing the lead on six under.
