FIRST-ROUND LEADERBOARDEngland's Nick Dougherty carded a 62 in the opening round of the Malaysian Open after having the chance of the first round of 59 in European Tour history.
Dougherty birdied 10 of his first 13 holes but then parred all of the final five to finish on 10 under.
Simon Dyson and Australia's Marcus Fraser were two shots back in second place after rounds of 64 on the Kota Permai course in Kuala Lumpur.
Darren Clarke was three under and David Howell and Paul McGinley one under.
Dougherty enjoyed a run of seven straight birdies and managed to avoid any bogeys on his scorecard.

"It was a great start to the tournament. It was my lowest round on the Tour and it sets me up well," said Dougherty.

Dougherty admitted that thoughts of a historic 59 had crossed his mind after moving to 10 under, with five holes to play.
"I knew it was on after I made a long birdie on the fourth. Three birdies in the last five is not that tall an order but, unfortunately, it didn't happen," he added.
"It was there to be done but it didn't happen. Even so, I'm quite pleased with the score I got."
