Tiger Woods mastered the blustery conditions to move into a four-shot lead after the third round of the WGC-CA Championship on Saturday.

Woods eagled the "Blue Monster's" 1st and then mixed three birdies with a bogey to card a 68 to move to 11 under.

Brett Wetterich is second - a spot he had shared with Ernie Els before a double bogey saw the South African slide back - with Nick O'Hern third.

England's Paul Casey carded a 66, which took him to joint 10th on four under.

Casey, who is recovering from a bout of flu, sunk six birdies without dropping a shot to vastly improve on his opening scores of 76 and 70.

"I went out there with very low expectations, trying to carry on with the birdies and eliminate the mistakes," said Casey, 29.

"(The spit) did go in the middle (of the hole) and wasn't going to affect anyone else - if it did, I would have wiped it off"

"That's exactly what I did. I'm feeling a lot better and I'm happy with the form. I've just got to try and continue that through the Masters."

Denmark's Thomas Bjorn led the European charge in Florida after a 71 was good enough for him to take a share of fourth alongside Els, Vijay Singh, Charles Howell, Aaron Baddeley and Tom Pernice.

But Spain's Sergio Garcia could be heading for a hefty fine after spitting into the bottom of the cup on the 13th green. The 27-year-old was annoyed after three-putting for bogey on his way to a one-under 71.

"I just missed that putt and wasn't too happy," Garcia said. "But (the spit) did go in the middle (of the hole) and wasn't going to affect anyone else. If it did, I would have wiped it off."

After making his only bogey of the day at the par-three 13th, Garcia parred the last five holes to finish at four under, alongside Casey.

Reigning Masters champion Phil Mickelson will desperately need to fine-tune his play if he is to mount a serious challenge at Augusta, when the season's first major begins on 5 April.

The American carded a two-under-par 70 but was still languishing down the field on three over thanks to a dismal opening round of 77. Mickelson was undone at the last when he closed with a double-bogey six, driving into the rough and then needing three putts to hole out.

Soon afterwards, Colin Montgomerie saw all his good work undone at the 18th when he finished on a dismal triple-bogey seven after finding the lake with his drive.

Montgomerie sunk to six over while Ireland's Padraig Harrington and England's Ian Poulter were on level par.
