Bob Estes birdied the 18th hole to join fellow American Will MacKenzie at the top of the leaderboard after the third round of the Reno-Tahoe Open in Nevada.

Estes started the day one stroke clear after establishing a tournament record for 36 holes at 15-under 129.

MacKenzie surged ahead after firing five birdies in six holes in a round of 67, but Estes tied him for the lead on 19 under thanks to a round of 68.

John Cook (69) reached 15 under while Swede Daniel Chopra (64) is 14 under.

Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell is on nine under after a four-under 68 while England's Brian Davis is six under after a score of 70.
