Korea's Se Ri Pak ended a two-year hunt for a title with a stunning play-off win over Karrie Webb at the LPGA Championship at Bulle Rock, Maryland.
Pak sealed the win after firing her second shot to within inches of the pin at the first extra play-off hole, the 385-yard par-four 18th.
Webb had earlier set the eight-under target with a 68 and Pak matched it after claiming a bogey at the last.
Teenager Michelle Wie tied for fifth after a 72 put her on six under.
Wie got to within one of the lead after a birdie at the 15th but any hope of victory ended when she bogeyed two of her final three holes.
Korea's Mi Hyun Kim and Ai Miyazato of Japan tied for third on seven under after respective closing rounds of 71 and 72.
Pak, whose last victory came at the 2004 Michelob Ultra Open, has now won five career majors and this is her third LPGA Championship.
The 28-year-old failed to make the cut at this event last year and sat out the last five months of 2005.
"This just feels fantastic," she said. "After all I have been through, this is one of the best days of my life.
"Last year, I didn't like golf. I said I don't know why I keep going to the golf course, it's stressful. I felt a little burned out.
"I'm very happy to be back again. I'm very excited to play golf again. I'm a very lucky person, loving the game so much and I'm still playing."
Webb, who won the first major of the year at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in April, was three off the pace at the start of the day but four birdies in her first seven holes put her in the hunt.
She only had a birdie and a bogey on the back nine and missed a birdie putt from five feet at 17 and another from 10 feet at the last.
Annika Sorenstam, who was chasing her fourth straight LPGA Championship total, fell out of contention after a three-over 75 on Saturday.
But she hit back with a 68 to finish off on five under.
Laura Davies and Karen Stupples were the only two British players to make the cut and they finished tied for 65th and 69th respectively.
Davies, who tied for third last year, had five bogeys for a 75 which put her on eight over for the tournament.
Stupples finished one shot further back after bogeying the last for a two-over 74.
