America's Kenny Perry led the Bay Hill Invitational when the third round was suspended because of bad light.
Perry was at nine-under par through 11 holes, one stroke ahead of Canada's Stephen Ames, also after 11.
Fiji's Vijay Singh and Korea's KJ Choi were a shot further back after 13. Tiger Woods (13) was on level par while Ernie Els (13) was one over.
Briton's David Howell (16) and Graeme McDowell (15) were three under while Brian Davis (18) was at one-under par.
Singh is now in a good position to reclaim the world number one spot he lost to Woods two weeks ago.
A victory would make it easy, but Singh also could return to the top by finishing in a two-way tie for third - providing Woods finishes out of the top 20.
Woods shot a 70 in the morning but fell apart in the afternoon, making birdie at seven and double bogey at nine.
Els also had a chance to reach number one this week but shot an ugly second-round 77 and just made the cut.
Only 30 of the 70 players who made the cut finished the
third round which will resume at 1300 GMT on Sunday.
