Your Game hits Brent Cross

Your Game delivered yet another banging day of music, football and dance, this time for the half-term shoppers at Brent Cross shopping Centre in partnership with Talent Week and Business In the Community.

The team put on taster sessions in football commentary, boxing, beat-boxing and street-dance. Shoppers were invited to step up and have a go and plenty got involved.

Streets United sent along some of their talent - beat-boxer Bass6, Olly Hayes, the UK's youngest football freestyler and street dancer Courtney Orange.

As well as giving shoppers the chance to showcase their talents, Your Game was also on the hunt to find out what opportunities young people are looking for. The team chatted with them about the kind of training and careers that interested them and how Your Game can develop links to these.

One of the shoppers up for the challenge was 16 year-old Tenisha Williams who stepped up to the mic and sang the no 1 smash hit Hero. She said, "Today was brilliant, it was scary getting up there and singing in front of loads of people but to have the chance to do something like this was wicked. Young people aren't often asked what they want to do and it's really cool that Your Game is getting out there and finding out what we want and how to help us along the way."

There were also dance workshops with Courtney for whoever felt brave enough to do their thing. Bass6 meanwhile showed the shoppers how to spit like a professional on the mic.

Someone else who smashed it was 15 year-old Nathan, who showed off his mc-ing skills and also impressed with his boxing. "It was great getting a platform to show what I could do and the boxing was a brilliant experience. I've never done it before but the workshop was so much fun that I'm thinking I might look into lessons."

Leesa Ingham from Business In The Community was clearly impressed. "" Your Game was a huge success, we are looking forward to working with them up and down the country at many more Talent Week events."
