Lippi dedicates win to Pessotto

Pessotto is in a serious condition in a Turin hospital after falling from a window at Juventus' headquarters.

After the 3-0 win over Ukraine, Lippi said: "We did it for Pessotto. We dedicate this to him and his family and we are all thinking of him and them.

"I am very satisfied with this performance, we played really well. It's a great victory."

He added: "I'm really happy and really proud of what the players did today, but now we have to look forwards to the next match."

Luca Toni scored twice in the second half to wrap up the victory, the striker's first goals at the World Cup finals.

"Those goals were really important for me and for the squad," said Toni.

"But it will now be a very tough game against the Germans in the semi-final as they are at home and they have knocked out Argentina.

"But we played very well today and are ready to take them on."

Gianluca Zambrotta, who opened the scoring in the sixth minute, added: "We're very satisfied to reach the next round. It was a tricky match but we put in an extraordinary performance.

"Now we're expecting a very difficult match from Germany in the semis."
