Eriksson 'would stay in England'

Sven-Goran Eriksson Sven-Goran Eriksson would consider becoming a club boss in England, according to his agent.

Athole Still says the Swede, whose reign as England boss ended in defeat, has received a number of offers to return to club football.

Still told BBC Five Live: "It depends which club. If he goes back to a club he wants one that can challenge for the championship and for Europe.

"Next week we will look to the future and the next four or five-year plan."

Eriksson's tenure as England manager came to an end with the World Cup quarter-final exit at the hands of Portugal.

And, although the Swede has been much criticised during the latter part of his time in charge of England, Still says Eriksson is still in demand.

"There have been club offers and offers of another type but we have not seriously addressed them," Still said.

"So the man has an extremely good salary. What's he supposed to do? Turn it down?"

"Attention was focused on England and the World Cup but we will look at them now."

Still also defended Eriksson against criticism he was money-grabbing.

"That's just absolutely ridiculous," Still said. "So the man has an extremely good salary. Blame me, if you wish, for that.

"What's he supposed to do? Turn it down?"

And Still was equally quick to dismiss talk that Eriksson was tactically clueless.

"He lost only one game in the qualifying," Still said.

"Everybody is massively disappointed at what happened. He will be absolutely shattered at the result because we all expected to go through."
