Owen takes part in full training

Michael Owen England's Michael Owen came through a full training session unscathed at their pre-World Cup camp in Portugal.

Owen has had 29 minutes of action since breaking a metatarsal on New Year's Eve at Tottenham - and after that run-out he still felt uneasy about the injury.

The striker is now set to play in the B international with Belarus on May 25.

Five other players missed the session - Wayne Rooney through injury and Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham due to club commitments.

"I have no doubt Owen will be fit by the time the World Cup comes"
Sven-Goran Eriksson

England face Hungary on 30 May and Jamaica on 3 June before the party heads for Germany on 4 June ahead of the World Cup.

Owen was told by coach Sven-Goran Eriksson to sit out Alan Shearer's testimonial match against Celtic last week in order to help his recovery.

But Eriksson said before that match that he was confident Owen would play in Germany.

"I have no doubt he will be fit by the time the World Cup comes around but I don't know how match fit he will be," he said.

Meanwhile, Cole and Campbell will be in Champions League final action for Arsenal against Barcelona on Wednesday.

Steven Gerrard has been given a week's break after his exertions for Liverpool while captain David Beckham finishes his commitments with Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

Jamie Carragher, Peter Crouch, Nigel Reo-Coker, and Owen Hargreaves were also rested after weekend commitments with Liverpool, West Ham and Bayern Munich respectively.
