Suffo adds to Wrexham's strength

Patrick Suffo

Wrexham have completed the signing of Cameroon striker Patrick Suffo.

The signing of Suffo, who won a football Olympic gold medal in 2000, had been delayed after problems tracking down his registration.

The 30-year-old, who has played for clubs including Nantes, Sheffield United, Numancia and Coventry City arrives on a short-term deal.

Dragons boss Dean Saunders has also been boosted by the news that defender Ashley Westwood has extended his deal.

Former Manchester United trainee Westwood, 31, had originally agreed a contract until 5 January but will now remain at the Racecourse Ground until the end of the season.

Suffo, who has also played in Israel for Maccabi Petah Tikva, is now expected to make his Wrexham debut in Saturday's Blue Square Premier game at Kidderminster.

"I'm looking forward to getting my chance and I can't wait to start playing again," Suffo told the Wrexham website.

"Wrexham is a good club and I have already enjoyed my time training and working with the staff.

"Results in recent weeks have set a high standard and it's one we are looking to maintain."

Wrexham are still in talks about the possibility of Barnet winger Kieron St Aimie joining them.

The 19-year-old former Queens Park Rangers trainee is listed as available for transfer or loan.
