Mick Halsall has left his position as head of youth at Walsall to become a youth coach at Wolves.
The 47-year-old, who had been with the Saddlers since 1998, will become the assistant academy manager at Molineux.
In a club statement, chief executive Roy Whalley said: "It was disappointing to receive his resignation.
"We have decided not to stand in Mick's way. His resignation has been accepted and he will be allowed to leave the club and take up his new position."
He continued: "We acknowledge the excellent work that Mick has done over the years for our youth development programme and we wish him well for the future."
Halsall worked for over a decade in the youth set-up at the Bescot Stadium, but took on a more senior role when then-manager Colin Lee appointed him as first-team coach in 2004.
He also had a spell as caretaker manager when Paul Merson was sacked as Walsall boss in 2006.
Earlier this year, Halsall rejected the chance to leave the League One side to become the academy manager at Stoke City.
