Stearman swaps Foxes for Wolves

Wolves have signed defender Richard Stearman from Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old has agreed a four-year contract to become boss Mick McCarthy's second signing of the summer.

"As soon as I got back from holiday I came down to the training ground [at Compton] and I was delighted to get it done," Stearman told BBC WM.

"I got the tour and was very impressed, it just confirmed my eagerness to get going now."

Wolverhampton-born Stearman has been with Leicester all his career but has swapped the prospect of life in League One for a return to the Championship.

He has represented England at Under-17,18,19 and 21 levels.

Meanwhile Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey says he is expecting several more players to follow Stearman to Molineux.

"It's been a very busy summer and will continue to be busy, we're looking at signing two or three more players."

Moxey also admitted the fans will expect the club to show some ambition in the transfer market if season ticket sales, which are down on the corresponding period last year, are to increase.

"We are trying to keep and build a team that's really exciting, that the fans will want to come and support," added Moxey

"As everyone knows it's a tough economic situation but we hope more fans will buy up season tickets now the fixtures are out and it's getting exciting again."
