Hurst sells medal
Hurst: Reported to have sold the medal for £150,000
Sir Geoff Hurst has accepted a "substantial" offer from former club West Ham for his England World Cup winner's medal.
Hurst, who scored a memorable hat-trick in the 1966 World Cup final, is reported to have sold the medal for £150,000.
However, the Hammers were keen to buy the award - which has been kept in a bank vault, to form one of the main attractions in the new club museum.
Hurst said: "I'm happy that future generations of football fans will be able to see the medal.
"I've had to keep it locked in a bank vault for years
because of burglaries.
"It was always my intention to leave my memorabilia to my three daughters, but how do you divide a medal three ways?"
In September 2000, the red shirt which was worn by Hurst in the 1966 final fetched £80,000 at auction.
The Hammers, who already own the late Bobby Moore's collection of memorabilia, will house the museum in the Dr Martens stand as part of a £35m redevelopment at Upton Park.
An auction of memorabilia belonging to Hurst's England manager, Sir Alf Ramsey, is taking place at Christie's in central London on 27 September.
