Swansea City have denied signing Espanyol midfielder Jordi Gomez.

The highly-rated 23-year-old midfielder has claimed he will join Championship new boys Swansea on a season-long loan.

"The loan is positive for me," Gomez told Espanyol's official website. "For me last season was positive because I played in the Primera Liga.

But a Swans spokesman insists: "We have not signed Jordi, he is just one of a number of players manager Roberto Martinez is talking to."

However, the club has confirmed that Martinez is currently out in Spain talking to the former Barcelona player, who joined city rivals Espanyol in 2007, about a possible one-year load deal from the La Liga outfit.

"We are in discussions with both players, but I must reiterate that we have not signed either player at present"

The Swans manager is also said to be talking to Granada striker Gorko Pintado who scored 18 goals last year.

The 30-year-old is rumoured to be one of half-a-dozen forwards on Martinez's mind and has a year to run on his contract with the Segunda B side..

"Roberto is currently out in Spain speaking to a number of players," said Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins.

"As usual, he is working tirelessly and Gorka and Jordi are both high on his list of targets.

"We are in discussions with both players, but I must reiterate that we have not signed either player at present."

Jenkins has said that the first of the club's new summer signings will arrive at the Liberty Stadium hopefully within the next 10 days.

The news of new signings will cheer Swansea supporters who on Monday heard how the club turned down a transfer request from their Dutch midfielder Ferrie Bodde.

The 26-year-old joined from ADO Den Haag for £50,000 a year ago but on the back of the Swans' success has been linked with relegated Premier League sides Derby and Reading.
