Swansea announce six-figure loss
Swansea City made a loss of £193,080 in the financial year that ended in May 2005, having made a profit of £137,581 during the previous 12 months.
Their turnover increased by nearly £250,000 but that was offset by a rise in expenditure of more than a £500,000.
Swansea attributed the loss to the cost of moving into their new stadium and the investment in the playing squad.
But the club's directors said this season has been a "remarkable success" both on and off the pitch.
'Match attendances have averaged around 14,000 compared with 8,453 for last season, and promotion to the Championship is still very much achievable," said a club statement.
Swansea have already won the FAW Premier Cup and the Football League Trophy and are five points from the promotion places, with one game in hand.
