Striker Healy linked with Rangers

David Healy

Sunderland striker David Healy could be a transfer-window target for Rangers, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

Northern Ireland's record goalscorer is seen as a likely replacement for Kris Boyd, who is seemingly poised for a move from Rangers to Birmingham.

Healy, 29, has made just one first-team start, in the League Cup, for the Black Cats since his August move from Fulham.

However, Healy's agent Stephen Hughes insisted the possibility of a move to Rangers had not been mentioned.

Hughes told BBC Sport: "I have heard nothing. We are not engineering anything.

"I spoke to Sunderland earlier this week and nothing was mentioned."

A move to Rangers would see Healy join Northern Ireland players Steve Davis and Kyle Lafferty.

"Although I think Healy would do well in the SPL, I couldn't see him getting anywhere near the same amount of goals as Boyd"
We Welcome The Chase

Gers boss Walter Smith is known to be an admirer of the Northern Ireland striker.

And Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington has made it clear he is keen for his star forward to be playing regular first-team football.
