Keane plans return to management

Roy Keane says he plans to return to management in the future after quitting as Sunderland boss last week.

The 37-year-old resigned as Black Cats manager last week following the 4-1 league defeat by Bolton.

"I have experienced and learnt a tremendous amount in the last 27 months and enjoyed the rigours of being a manager," Keane said in a statement.

"I look forward to building on those experiences and, sometime in the future, returning to management."

Keane's statement was released through the League Managers Association.

Meanwhile, former Sunderland boss Peter Reid has insisted he is not interested in a return to the Stadium of Light.

Reid was in charge of the Black Cats between 1995 and 2002 and is currently coach of the Thailand national team.

On Monday, he was quoted in the Daily Mail newspaper saying he would consider a comeback to the club.

But he later distanced himself from the vacancy.

"I didn't say I wanted to go back to Sunderland," insisted the 52-year-old. "I haven't been offered the job at Sunderland and I will not take it if I am offered it."
